Barnard’s Galaxy & SNR G296.6-13
A tiny galaxy with a big story. Barnard’s Galaxy lies just 1.6 million light-years away in Sagittarius. Packed with star-forming regions, it’s a miniature lab for galactic evolution right in our cosmic backyard.
Surrounded by the ghost of a dying star, SNR G296.6–13.0 is a sprawling supernova remnant in Centaurus — the expanding shell of gas and dust left behind after a massive explosion millions of years ago.
